Juliet House to be featured in Fine Homebuilding Magazine

I just spent a long, exhausting day helping Fine Homebuilding itinerant editor and photographer Chuck Miller document our Juliet House for the '08 Spring/Summer "HOMES" issue of the magazine. The house was one of almost 300 submitted for the issue, and one of only eight to be selected. While the work typically represented in the magazine favors a more traditional aesthetic, they are working to broaden that approach to include a wider range of houses that embody innovative and sustainable solutions to the challenges of creating great houses. We look forward to this issue hitting the news stands April 29 of next year.

Excellent work! I have a FH subscription and noticed your work there. Just curious about the roof construction - was a SIP roof used for insulation or something else?

Saw your house in the magazine. That is an awesome addition. I've always felt an upside down house makes sense. I've got questions. I'm looking to buy a small house in the Boston, MA area where I can do something like this.

How are the MDF floors finished and what did you use as spacers in between the panels?

And I love that ceiling! Was that an economical choice? How is the roof insulated?

Who makes the zinc shingles? How does their cost compare to cement fiber panels?

How are the clerestory windows fabricated? Do they also carry the weight of the roof?

Was the entire addition built on-site? Could it have been panelized?

I appreciate any info you can provide. Thanks for the inspiration.
